School Mental Health Services (SMHS) are designed to overcome the barriers that students, parents, and teachers face in overcoming mental health challenges by offering school-based access to trained mental health professionals and peer support. SMHS serves Arlington, Blair, Conestoga, Elmwood-Murdock, Fort Calhoun, Louisville, Plattsmouth, and Weeping Water in Cass and Washington Counties.
All for ONE
We all need to hear this: It’s okay to ask for help.
We don’t have to fight our battles alone. We can support each other.
It takes us working together to create a safe space for Mental Health Awareness.
The right support for each unique student.
SMHS implements a three-tier system so that students can receive the right kind of support for their unique circumstances. The first tier lays the foundation for mental health awareness and education. Teachers will do their part to give their students the knowledge necessary to understand why emotional support is so important and that help is available when needed.
Tiers two and three offer a safe space for group therapy so peers can meet common goals together, and access to one-on-one therapy for students that will benefit more from the support of a mental health professional.
